Vladlen Gladis

I'm Vladlen Gladis, a software engineer since 2016, originally from a small town in Moldova.

What I work on
#

Java and Kotlin, the Spring ecosystem, and cloud architecture on AWS. I've built a number of distributed, reliable systems there, and untangling a complicated architecture is still my favourite kind of problem.

Along the way I've picked up the AWS Developer and AWS Solutions Architect Associate certifications, and a Java Professional certification.

Why this blog exists
#

Mentoring is the part of the job I enjoy most, and writing is mentoring at a distance. These posts are the notes I wish had existed when I was working something out: how GraalVM turns a Spring Boot application into a native binary, why a JDK manager saves you an afternoon, what actually happens between a socket and an HTTP response.

They're deliberately long. The interesting parts of the JVM don't fit in a tweet.

Thanks for reading. ✌️
